Neighborhood gardening common misconceptions – debunked

1. Community gardens only accept expert gardeners as members. No, not at all. The beauty of these neighborhood gardens is that everyone is welcome. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just beginning your gardening adventure, you’ll be welcomed with open arms. Keep in mind that in neighborhood gardening, the more people who are willing to share their time and effort in growing plants, the better.

2. You should already have a complete set of gardening tools for you to join. False. Of course you can bring some of your gardening tools, if you want to. But it’s really not necessary. If there’s any prerequisite that successful community gardens might require from aspiring members, bringing your own gardening tools isn’t one of them.

Do you have any idea why some gardeners would prefer to grow plants in a community garden rather than in their own backyard? Well, it’s because these neighborhood gardens already have all the needed gardening essentials. All you have to do is dig in and get those hands dirty.
